Born in Toronto in 1958, Louise Penny grow up in a house full of books, and crime fiction was a favorite genre among the many books her mother liked to have around.

Even so, Penny's first career was very different, she started working as a radio broadcaster. But when she turned to writing, soon she won several and prestigious awards, like the Agatha Award or the Anthony Award for best novel.

Among her writing works, one stands out: the mystery novels that features Chief Inspector Armand Gamache, the head of the homicide department of the Sûreté du Québec. That series of books got very popular and have been published in more than 20 languages.
