The Tables Turned; or, Nupkins Awakened. A Socialist Interlude

Description of book

'The Tables Turned; or, Nupkins Awakened. A Socialist Interlude' is a play penned by William Morris. The first act is set in a courtroom where Mr. La-di-da has just been found guilty of swindling, and sentenced to one month in prison as a first-class misdemeanant. After La-di-da exits, the case of Mary Pinch is called. The prosecution, Mr. Hungary, Q.C., argues that the case is important because of its political and moral implications, and that Mary Pinch has stolen three loaves of bread.
