Truth [Vérité]

Truth [Vérité]

Description of book

'Truth' is a posthumous masterpiece written by Émile Zola. This novel, the third in his Four Gospels series, is a testament to the power of the written word and a call to arms for the French society of his time. Each of the Froment brothers, Mathieu, Marc, Luc, and Jean, serve as the protagonists, each facing one of the four social issues that Zola deemed crucial for France to live up to the revolutionary ideals of "liberté, egalité, fraternité." Through 'Truth', Zola not only exposed the darkness and corruption of society, but also painted a utopian vision of an ideal France. Though beginning with a sense of despair, it ultimately concludes with a glimmer of hope and a call for change.
