"The Mission; or Scenes in Africa" by Frederick Marryat is a missionary work with the goal to teach young people about the history of South Africa and to admire Christian missionaries. Written in the same style as Marryat's other adventure books, this story has a bit more of a niche interest. However, even if you're not religious, you'll still be entertained by the history of the text.
