The Feudists is a western short story by Ernest Haycox. Haycox was an American writer of Western fiction. Excerpt: "THERE was something deceptive about the rugged land into which he traveled. It seemed to bury him in its depths, yet more than two miles out of Blackrock the first quick tilt of the bench lifted him to a crest from which he caught again the lights of the town. After that the road tackled an increasing grade earnestly, and for long intervals Reno's pony went on at a slogging walk. A bank of fog drifted thickly about him."
