The Monster

'The Monster' is a novel written by Edgar Saltus. The story begins with a bride and groom, looking out to the sea from a room where they are currently residing. The groom receives a platter of letters, one of which is from his father-in-law and he tears it up as it is of no importance to him. The couple discuss their love for each other, with the bride questioning if the groom loves her as much as she loves him. He responds that while he doesn't know, she is unique to him.
